Assessment and Progress Tracking

Every pupil has different strengths, learning needs and goals. Our assessment and progress-tracking system helps us understand each pupil’s starting point, plan suitable lessons and monitor their development over time.

How the process works

Understanding the pupil

We begin by discussing the pupil’s current ability, confidence, schoolwork and learning goals with their parent or carer.

Establishing a starting point

Where appropriate, the pupil may complete a short assessment in English, maths or science. This helps us identify what they already understand and where additional support may be needed.

Creating a personalised plan

The tutor uses this information to prioritise suitable topics and plan lessons around the pupil’s individual needs.

Reviewing progress

Tutors monitor understanding during lessons, record important developments and adjust the learning plan when necessary.

Keeping parents informed

Parents receive clear feedback about progress, current priorities and suggested next steps.

Our assessments are adapted to each pupil’s age, ability and individual needs. Some pupils benefit from a written assessment, while younger children or pupils with SEND may be better supported through informal activities, tutor observations and regular progress reviews.

Parents are kept informed through tutor feedback and progress updates. Where an assessment has been completed, we explain the main findings and how these will influence future lessons.
